DFMI was founded in response to the plight of orphans and vulnerable children in Luwero District, a region still recovering from the impact of the 1981–1986 civil war. Many children were left orphaned, homeless, and without access to basic education. Today, limited access to school requirements has contributed to a growing number of out-of-school youth and rising social challenges. We exist to restore hope, rebuild lives, and create pathways to education, skills, and dignity.
